Local Guide – Make a Weekend of It in Rhayader

Updated: Jul 19

Coming to Rhayader for the race? Why not make a weekend of it!

We keep the race to a Saturday to encourage you all to make the most of what else is on offer in Rhayader.

Rhayader is more than just a start line — it’s a welcoming little town full of charm, history, and outdoor adventure.

Here’s a quick guide to enjoying your race weekend:

Stay Local There are plenty of cosy B&Bs, holiday cottages, and campsites in and around Rhayader and the Elan Valley. Booking early is always a good idea — the race weekend gets busy!

Eat Well Refuel at one of the town’s friendly pubs or cafés. Whether you fancy a hearty Welsh breakfast or a pre-race pasta dinner, there’s something for everyone.

Explore the Elan Valley Don’t leave without seeing the lakes! With peaceful walking trails, dams, and wild scenery, the Elan Valley is one of the most beautiful places in Wales. It’s also great for post-race recovery walks (or picnics).

Shop Local Pick up something special from one of Rhayader’s independent shops. From gifts and crafts to local produce, it’s worth a browse.

Bring your friends, your family — even your dog — and enjoy everything Rhayader has to offer while you’re here for the race.
