Sometimes simple is best.
For many years Rhayader Round the Lakes race has tweeked the route and added 'twiddly bits' to achieve a specific distance while maintaining safety for runners and marshals. The route has gone from 20 miles to 30km and included sections of out and back which cost our team lots of marshals on the day, added nothing to the enjoyment of the route, and in some cases actually added some dangerous road crossings for the runners.
So, we have gone back to first principles in providing our runners with a route in a stunningly beautiful place.
So Rhyader Round the Lakes race 2027 will be exactly that, a road race around the lakes and dams of the Elan Valley. Challenging, scenic and approx 28.5km with no added twiddly bits.
